Just wondering
Does this seem like a reasonable thing to meat-eaters? Because it sounds absolutely disgusting to me.

Uh, no not reasonable to this meat-eater. I'm with you, this is yucky. It is also weird. How does one build a case for sentimentality with a can of chicken?
Um... no. But then, I don't much care for canned meats in general. I've also had food poisoning once (eggs, not meat), and do NOT want to go there again; so maybe I'm more cautious than some.
To be fair, I'd be reluctant to eat 50-year-old canned beans, too.

He has reportedly not suffered any ill-effects from the chicken.
Is he still alive, do you think?
I wouldn't choose to eat 50-year-old anything.
Uh...Yuck.
In general, I am not a picky eater but, well...nasty. I imagine it was rather fowl tasting.
